Nothing is as it seems in BEYOND THE GRAVE and readers are going to find themselves utterly mesmerized by this installment and will be begging Ms. Gardiner for more Jess and Britt. Well done Ms. Gardiner. Gardiner skillfully provides a unique version of vampires, along with primary and secondary characters that seem real to the reader. Jess’ ongoing battle with her darker side adds depth to her portrayal, as well as believable conflict and difficulties in her relationship with Britt and her brother. As with the first installment in the series, surprises abound, and the author dexterously paces the suspenseful story. Fans of both urban fantasy and paranormal romance will enjoy this fast-paced, original novel.

This action-packed vampire police procedural will hook the audience into a vampiric hypnotic state the first time Jess collapses and never let’s go for an instant. The story line is faster than a speeding vampire, but also goes deep inside the souls of the two cops as both fears that if she survives she will be another soulless undead. Adding to the spins and twists of the serial killer investigation is a secondary character, a caring priest whose faith in God regardless of what he faces keeps those in his circle of influence safe. Beyond the Grave is a terrific book to read. The action-packed plot moves quickly with enough twists to keep a reader's complete attention. And the characters are appealing, especially in the case of Regent the tender hearted priest whose strength of faith keeps his sister and those around her squarely in God's light. This is an unusual but compelling aspect to Gardiner's vampire story. As in book one of this series, Grave Illusions, Beyond the Grave has a cliff hanger ending which will leave readers asking for more.
