Beyond the Grave - Back Cover Vampire Police Captain Jess Vandermire is hunting a serial killer vampire. The trouble is, Jess is experiencing blackouts, and every time she does, another woman turns up dead. Has she slipped over the dangerous slope into full vampirism? Is she the serial killer she’s hunting? Lieutenant John Brittain makes it his job to find the killer and prove Jess innocent, but it’s hard to be human in a world of super-strong, super-fast vampires. His best weapon is his tough-cop intellect and he’s using it for all he’s worth. Yes, Jess is a vampire, and yes, she’s capable of killing. He knows, however, that she hasn’t committed these crimes, and he has the horrible feeling that if doesn’t catch the killer soon Jess will be the final victim. As Jess and Britt wage war against this evil vampire, it becomes a battle for the last vestiges of Jess’s own humanity. Soon the question becomes, who will draw first blood? Reviewed by: GLORIA NICKERSON / The Daily Gleaner Beyond the Grave delivers a high-action, suspense thriller mixing the best of the romance and paranormal genres for a satisfying read. Reviewed by Harriet Klausner This action-packed vampire police procedural will hook the audience into a vampiric hypnotic state the first time Jess collapses and never let’s go for an instant. The story line is faster than a speeding vampire, but also goes deep inside the souls of the two cops as both fears that if she survives she will be another soulless undead. Adding to the spins and twists of the serial killer investigation is a secondary character, a caring priest whose faith in God regardless of what he faces keeps those in his circle of influence safe. Fans will relish this delightful urban fantasy whodunit as Lina Gardiner makes vampires with and without souls seem genuine Reviewed by Patricia's Vampire Notes Beyond the Grave is a terrific book to read. The action-packed plot moves quickly with enough twists to keep a reader's complete attention. And the characters are appealing, especially in the case of Regent the tender hearted priest whose strength of faith keeps his sister and those around her squarely in God's light. This is an unusual but compelling aspect to Gardiner's vampire story. As in book one of this series, Grave Illusions, Beyond the Grave has a cliff hanger ending which will leave readers asking for more. Reviewed by Ruth Schaller "This book was great!"
